What is Overture?
Overture teaches students agency over technology through hands-on creative after-school programs for Grades K–8. Students become confident creators, critical thinkers, and collaborators by making projects they are proud to share. (Learn more on our Programs page)
What ages can participate?
Our programs are designed for Grades K–8. Using a Montessori-esque model, we meet kids where they are while supporting varied skill levels—from discovering rhythm for the first time to writing their first great story prompt.
Where are Overture classes offered?
We offer programs across the USA, with primary availability in Boston and Chicago (expanding). Parents enroll through their school’s after-school catalog or via our Find My Program page. (Find My Program)
What programs do you offer?
Overture offers hands-on creative programs in movie making, entrepreneurship, video game design, creative AI literacy, music composition, app development, and 3D modeling and animation. Each class culminates in a portfolio of characters, stories, 3D models, video games, movies, music, and more.
Do students need any prior experience?
Nope. No prior music, coding, or technology experience is required. We teach the fundamentals step by step, and students can go deeper as they’re ready.
Creative Technology & Safety
What is creative AI literacy for students?
Creative AI literacy helps students understand what AI is, what it isn’t, and how technology can support—rather than replace—their own ideas. Students practice clear communication, critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration while building safe digital habits.
Do students directly use online tools?
No. Students never directly access online tools—teachers guide every sentence. This keeps the experience age-appropriate, safe, and school-friendly.
How does the no-screen safety framework work?
Everything starts with paper and pencil. Students plan offline, teachers review and coach the writing, and teachers use the online tool. Students never directly access online tools. What do students create in Hands-on Creative Programs?
Students build portfolios of characters, stories, 3D models, video games, movies, music, and more. Every class culminates in projects they are proud to share with friends and family.
Which online tools do teachers use?
Teachers may use tools like Gemini, Suno, and ElevenLabs in a structured, teacher-run setting. The goal isn’t more screen time—it’s helping students think, write, and create responsibly with guidance.
Are Hands-on Creative Programs coding classes?
Some programs include app or video game development, but coding experience is never required. Students learn to plan, write, design, iterate, and collaborate, then see their ideas come alive with the latest technology.
Enrollment & Logistics
How do I enroll my child?
Find your school on our Find My Program page, log in, register your student, and pay. Some schools handle registration internally; in those cases, our site links directly to the school’s registration site or connects you with your after-school coordinator. (Enroll / Find My Program)
What happens after I enroll?
You’ll get a confirmation email and you’re ready to go. With a parent account, you can view your child’s progress and see what they create (music, worlds, and more).
Can my child join mid-session?
If space allows, yes. We accept late enrollments and you can join the waitlist if a class is full.
What if my child misses a class?
If school closures or weather events occur, we make our best effort to add extra sessions to make up for missed classes.
What’s your cancellation or refund policy?
You’ll receive a full refund if you cancel before the first class.
Learning & Outcomes
What do students learn in Hands-on Creative Programs?
Students build skills in writing, creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration. They also learn to stay in control of technology and use it responsibly without letting tools think for them.
What do students learn in Music Club?
Students learn rhythm, melody, and harmony through interactive games that turn skills into original songs. Along the way they build pattern recognition, collaboration, and creative confidence.
Do students perform or share their work?
Yes. Each program ends with a Showcase Day, where students demonstrate their progress and share what they created with parents, classmates, and teachers.
Who designs the curriculum?
Overture’s curriculum is built with educators and researchers (including partners connected to Northwestern, UChicago, NYU, and more) and designed to be joyful, social, and safe.
Devices & Payment
What technology do students use?
Students start offline with paper and pencil. When an online tool is needed, the instructor operates it while coaching students’ writing and ideas. Students never directly access online tools.
Are devices included in tuition?
Yes. The school or Overture supplies any technology and materials required for class. Families don’t need to buy or download anything separately.
Is financial aid available?
We often collaborate with schools that use after-school grants or PTA funds to make programs more accessible. Ask your enrichment coordinator if aid or scholarships are available at your site.
How are payments processed?
All payments go through our secure Stripe system on our website, or through the school’s portal if they handle registration directly.

How can my school bring Overture programs to our students?
We partner with schools to deliver turnkey, hands-on creative programs. Schools can often start a session in as little as a few weeks. No materials or extra staffing are required. (For Schools)
What support do schools receive?
We handle logistics: scheduling, teacher onboarding, communication templates, and end-of-session progress showing attendance and student outcomes.
Can schools choose custom schedules, age groups, or themes?
Absolutely. Most schools run 8–12 week sessions once per week. We tailor timing and curriculum themes to fit your school calendar and interests.
Are background checks and training required?
Yes. All instructors are fully background-checked and trained in classroom management, digital safety, and age-appropriate creative technology integration before teaching.
